Overview

Bartenders at Miso Phat Sushi craft high-quality beverages, including sake, Japanese beers, wines, and cocktails, to complement our award-winning sushi. Stationed at the Maui Coast Hotel location, bartenders create a lively yet professional atmosphere for guests dining at the bar or in the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve a variety of drinks, including sake (e.g., Rihaku “Wandering Poet” Junmai Ginjo), Japanese beers, wines, and specialty cocktails, following standardized recipes.
  • Bar Operations: Maintain a fully stocked bar with clean glassware, ice, garnishes, and ingredients. Monitor inventory and coordinate restocking with management.
  • Guest Engagement: Interact with guests at the bar, offering recommendations for drink pairings with sushi dishes (e.g., sake with unagi or lightly smoked fish). Provide a welcoming and engaging experience.
  • Order Accuracy: Take and fulfill drink orders from servers and guests, ensuring timely service during peak hours. Use POS systems for accurate order entry and payment processing.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Keep the bar area clean, sanitized, and organized, adhering to health and safety regulations. Clean glassware and equipment regularly.
  • Team Support: Assist servers with beverage orders and collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of bartending experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar, preferably with knowledge of Japanese beverages like sake.
  • Skills: Strong mixology skills, ability to multitask, and excellent customer service. Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs., and handle a fast-paced bar environment.
  • Certifications: Valid Hawaii liquor server certification.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Japanese culture and cuisine, enthusiasm for creating memorable guest experiences.
