Overview

Food Runners / Bussers at Miso Phat Sushi play a critical role in ensuring smooth dining operations by delivering food promptly and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. This position supports servers and sushi chefs in delivering the freshest sushi to guests at the Maui Coast Hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Delivery: Expedite sushi, appetizers, and side dishes from the kitchen or sushi bar to guest tables, ensuring accurate delivery and proper presentation. Verify orders with servers to prevent errors.
  • Table Maintenance: Clear used plates, utensils, and glassware promptly to maintain a tidy dining area. Reset tables efficiently with clean linens, chopsticks, and condiments.
  • Guest Assistance: Respond to basic guest requests (e.g., extra napkins, soy sauce) and communicate needs to servers. Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Station Support: Restock dining room supplies, including chopsticks, napkins, soy sauce, and wasabi. Assist with refilling water and other beverages as needed.
  • Cleanliness: Sweep floors, wipe down surfaces, and empty trash bins to maintain a clean front-of-house area. Adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Team Coordination: Communicate with servers, hosts, and sushi chefs to ensure timely food delivery and table turnover, especially during busy periods like happy hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Prior experience as a food runner, busser, or in a similar role preferred but not required. On-the-job training provided.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented mindset.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs., and carry trays of food and dishes.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Preferred: Enthusiasm for the restaurant industry and a willingness to learn about sushi preparation and service.
