Overview

Hosts/Hostesses at Miso Phat Sushi serve as the first point of contact for guests at our Maui Coast Hotel location, creating a welcoming and organized dining experience. They manage reservations, seating, and guest flow in a high-volume sushi restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Greeting: Welcome guests with warmth and aloha spirit, escorting them to tables and presenting menus. Accommodate special seating requests when possible.
  • Reservation Management: Handle reservations and manage the waitlist, especially during peak hours and happy hour (3–5 PM). Communicate wait times accurately.
  • Seating Coordination: Work with servers and managers to optimize table assignments, ensuring fair distribution and minimal wait times.
  • Guest Interaction: Answer guest inquiries about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies. Address concerns professionally, escalating to management when needed.
  • Station Maintenance: Keep the host station and waiting area clean, organized, and stocked with menus, chopsticks, and other supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate with servers, food runners, and bartenders to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Prior host/hostess experience preferred but not required. Customer service experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to remain calm under pressure. Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable) is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and navigate a busy dining room.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Preferred: Enthusiasm for Maui’s hospitality culture and knowledge of sushi menus.

Compensation

  • Hourly wage + shared tips.
